Emily Cooper

PhD (Neuroscience)

Cooper is Assistant Professor of Optometry and Vision Science at UC Berkeley. She is also affiliated with the Wills Neuroscience Institute. Her research focuses on understanding the mechanisms and phenomenology of human visual perception, with an emphasis on 3D vision and binocular combination. Her research has also concentrated on applications for the design of visual displays and graphics, as well as assistive technologies for the visually impaired. She received her BA in Psychology and English Literature from the University of Chicago in 2007 and her PhD in Neuroscience from UC Berkeley in 2012. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford, she joined the faculty at Dartmouth College before moving to Berkeley in 2018. Email: emilycooper@berkeley.edu. Website: Cooper Lab.
